I drove one of the first TF44 machines sold in the UK back in 1984 for Velcourt in Elstree, Cambs. I wonder in what way this TF78 differs. Carting is okay with a FW60, but it is just as well the baler is directly behind the combine because one good shower of rain and the driven on straw will not dry out. I am wondering where this is and when.

Poor old truck sound's like it had better days, it's smoking and ticking, but the jeep's engine is stronger, but still the cargo could win if he put a few ton's on the back, because it has a different gearbox.

@cargo965 If a conventional diesel engine is sounding as nasty as that one and blowing blue and white smoke, then it's worn and needs a rebuild or replacement. It didn't smoke like that when new. A bit of smoke starting up is ok, and a bit of black under load or when flat out is understandable but constant smoke like that is wear related

@defendingdog I have no attachment to either, i just see it as a stupid test. You'd have to be a moron to think that was a test which was in any way fair or viable. What's it trying to prove? That a modern 4x4 which seems to be in good order has more traction in that environment and therefore can out-pull a knackered and relatively underpowered 2wd truck which is clearly in rag order with a tired smokey engine? Could easily set up another test to make the truck win like carrying 10t of blocks...

Knackered cargo with probably bald tyres and no weight on so reduced grip, 2wd, on a loose surface, against a much newer, and better condition 4x4.... hmmm not the most accurate or fair test
